Constant Voltage Transformers (CVTs) are electrical transformers that are designed to provide a constant output voltage despite fluctuations in the input voltage. They are commonly used in applications where a stable and reliable power supply is required, such as medical equipment, telecommunications systems, and audio and video equipment.
CVTs use a ferroresonant transformer to regulate the output voltage. The ferroresonant transformer has a magnetic core and two windings, which are connected in such a way that the output voltage is maintained at a constant level. The core operates in a state of magnetic saturation, which allows it to regulate the output voltage by storing energy during times of low input voltage and releasing it during times of high input voltage.
CVTs provide several benefits over other types of transformers. They have a high level of energy efficiency, are able to operate in harsh environments, and are able to provide a constant output voltage without the need for additional voltage regulation equipment.
